JumpStart Programs (Partial Days)

Start day one off right with and introduction that will get students interacting and feeling welcome right away. AIAO can be there at arrival time to sweep anxious students directly into fun and engaging activities that help them get out the jitters, make connections, and start to feel right at home. These programs have helped our clients increase retention and reduce homesickness for students during those vital first days.

Large Group Events (1/2-Full Days)

High impact experiences that bond students through engaging and interactive initiatives, dialogue and reflections. Students will identify with the values and foundational principles of your school while building connections, normalizing hopes, fears and anxieties, and developing a sense of belonging and investment in their new community. Engage your students during one or more days of programming.

Adventure Expeditions (Multi-day/ Overnights)

These 2-5 day, overnight trips provide an opportunity for your students to put a pause on the many moving parts of a big life transition and focus on exploring their identity within a new context. Students build bonds with their peers as they camp and travel together, enjoying adventure activities such as canoeing, caving, hiking, and more. Trips engage students in different roles and relationships within a small group setting that relies on cooperation, support, safety and fun. These trips are formative and powerful experiences that often result in life-long friendships.

WHO WE SERVE

Schools

Transitioning to another grade, merging classes in a new school, or going to boarding school can have students encountering new people, experiences and ideas, not to mention adapting to new expectations and responsibilities. AIAO Orientation Programs provide your students an experience that will allow them to create healthy friendships, a strong peer support system, and a meaningful sense of identity in their new community before they even set foot in the classroom.

“Each time, those who are working with us take the time to ask about our objectives and the folks they will be engaging, to think carefully about their audience, and to create an incredibly meaningful and productive set of activities and exercises that help us reach our goals. After years of working with various outdoor education groups, I give my highest recommendation to everyone on this team.” -Sally Mixsell, Head of School, Stoneleigh Burnham School [/su_column] [su_column size=”1/2″ center=”no” class=””]

Colleges & Universities

New college students find success when they have the skills to face new challenges, develop healthy adult relationships and boundaries, and navigate the many resources and supports that are available to them in their new environment. AIAO Orientation Programs help set students up for success through experiences that foster the development of strong personal identity, healthy peer support systems, and investment and connection to your school’s community values.

“If you are looking for a more meaningful and deeper retreat or workshop experience, seriously consider Adventure In Adventure Out.” – Jon Todd, Director of Residence Life, Elms College

“The experience seriously and powerfully changed the course of my life for the better. I continue to uncover lessons and draw inspiration from things we did during that program.” – Mark, Student, Bates College
